Donald Duke, a former governor of Cross River State, has dumped the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr Duke returned to the PDP on Monday following the defection of Governor Ben Ayade to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

A source close to the former governor confirmed his defection.

The former governor, who is a founding member of the PDP, was the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2019 general election.

He was the state governor for eight years under the platform of the PDP from 1999 to 2007.
