SKILLS ACQUISITION: DWEMP GRADUATES 43, PRESENTS START-UP PACKS IN URUEOFONG/ORUKO

Forty-three women in Urue-Ofong/Oruko local government area, on Friday graduated from a 3-day Dakkada Women Entrepreneurship and Mentorship Programme (DWEMP) organized by the Directorate of Marketing and Brand Management, Office of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
The training program coordinated by the Special Assistant to Akwa Ibom State Governor on Marketing and Brand Management, Mrs. Lydia Udoh, afforded the women an opportunity to acquire vocational skills in Cosmetology, Soap Making, Catering, Confectionery, Decoration, Tailoring, and Hairdressing.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Lydia Udoh explained that DWEMP was part of Governor Udom’s commitment towards improving the entrepreneurial capacity of women across the 31 Local Government Areas of the state, adding that the goal of the program was to enhance knowledge and create opportunities for women in the rural communities to develop and sustain their entrepreneurial skills.
She reechoed that the idea behind DWEMP is to ensure that Akwa Ibom women become entrepreneurs in line with the job creation and Dakkada philosophy of Governor Udom Emmanuel, and charged the women to be business conscious, while contributing to the growth of their communities by making productive use of the new skills they have acquired.
While congratulating the graduands, she expressed optimism that the skills acquired by them would go a long way in unlocking their doors of financial independence and economic prosperity.
Goodwill messages were received from the Chairman of Council, Hon Mrs precious selong and three female councilors who commended Governor Udom Emmanuel and the Governor’s Aide, Mrs. Lydia for their commitment to human capacity development.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of cash support, certificates, and starter packs to all graduates of the program by the Coordinator, Mrs Lydia Udoh. The team moves to another local government area.
