… Lauds Ekpenyong Efx Ekpenyong’s Steadfastness&Support To the Party


The Ukanafun Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday 20th May 2021 held an enlarged Chapter Executive meeting comprising of the 18 chapter Executives and the 13 Ward Executive Members.

In his address, the Chapter Chairman, Hon. Elder Godwin Sunday Ekpe thanked the Chapter Executive Members for turning up promptly for the meeting, stating that the aim of the meeting was to celebrate their one year in office and to chat a way forward. Hon. Ekpe thanked God for seeing the party through a tough one year in office as he assured that the remaining years shall be greater.

The Chapter Chairman used the occasion to observe a minute silence for the repose of the soul of the late immediate State Chairman of the party, Hon. Udo Ekpenyong. He also commended the Ekpenyong’s family for remaining steadfast in supporting the party even at a time of greave. He specially thanked Engr. Ekpenyong Ekpenyong for supporting the party’s activities at the Chapter, stating that yesterday’s meeting was possible because of his financial and material support. The Chapter Chairman urged Engr. Ekpenyong to keep faith in the party as a day of reward beckons. He commended the State Governor, Deacon UDOM Emmanuel for his support to the people of Ukanafun during the burial of the late State Chairman, Hon. Udo Ekpenyong and also thanked the governor for nominating another son of the area Rt. Hon. Elder Aniekan Akpan to replace the late State Chairman of the PDP. He stated that the gesture has proved the love the Governor has for the people of Ukanafun.

The Chapter Chairman, Hon. Ekpe used the occasion of the meeting to invite all well-meaning sons and daughters of Ukanafun to the proposed Ukanafun Economic Summit which comes up by May 31st and 1st June respectively. Urging the people of Ukanafun to key into the vision of the Executive Chairman of Ukanafun LGA, Pst. Godwin Inyieng as he has mapped out a road Mark for the development of Ukanafun.

Responding, the Chapter Financial Secretary, Comr. Uduak Hanson commended the chapter Chairman, for deeming it necessary to bring them together to celebrate their one year in office and above all, chat a way forward for the party. Comr. Hanson also used the opportunity to thank Engr. Ekpenyong Ekpenyong for finding it necessary to support the party at a time the family is still in mourning. Stating that the Ekpenyong’s are truly a blessing to the people of Ukanafun. Comr. Hanson also said that the PDP and the people of Ukanafun will always stand with Engr. Ekpenyong when the need arises. He commended the state Governor for appointing Elder Aniekan Akpan to complete the tenure of the late party chairman, stating that Ukanafun people are grateful and will surely reciprocate the gesture by standing with the governor in his succession plan come 2023.

The high point of the occasion was a motion to adopt the Resolution of the meeting. Mr. Abasiofiok Emmanson Akpan, Chairman, PDP Ward 7, who said he has followed proceedings of the meeting to a logical conclusion poured encomium on the Executive Governor for believing in Ukanafun and zoning the position of the State Chairman of the party to the area. He also commended Engr. Ekpenyong Ekpenyong for standing by the party at a time nobody expected him to. He duly moved for the adoption of the Resolution at the meeting and was seconded by Mr. Ubong Sunday Job, Chairman, PDP Ward 10, who stated that he is moved by the magnanimity of the State Governor for giving Ukanafun a voice, stating that the party will stand with His Excellency to actualize his succession plan. The Resolution was unanimously adopted by the entire Chapter Executives of the party.
