UNYIME IDEM HONOURED AS IDORENYIN ORUK ANAM BY THE TRADITIONAL RULERS COUNCIL OF ORUK ANAM

… as he announces commencement of three roads project before end of 2021

The Oruk Anam Traditional Rulers Council has conferred on Rep Unyime Idem the Chieftaincy title of Idorenyin of Oruk Anam in view of his effective representation of the Federal Constituency in the National Assembly and the development of his constituents.

The honour was bestowed on him during the coronation ceremony of Obong Akpan Ibanga, the clan head of Abak Midim, Oruk Anam Local Government Area held at Ikot Esenam.

In an address, the Paramount Ruler of Oruk Anam Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Akuku Johnson Obosi said the honour on Rep Idem was predicated on his contributions towards the progress of Oruk Anam Local Government Area, the State and the Nation.

According to him “Chieftaincy honours are not for sale and not the function for all and sundry to confer titles on people, as village heads, clan heads and the Paramount Rulers have the right to confer honours within their jurisdictions”

The monarch condemned what he called “the encroachment of traditional functions by greedy and ignorant individuals or groups”. He however, described the honour on Rep Idem at the coronation as well deserved.

Responding at the event, the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency Lawmaker, Rep Unyime Idem appreciated the monarch for acknowledging his modest efforts in the transformation of the Federal Constituency.

He announced the construction of three roads project in the area before the end of 2021.

The Innovative Lawmaker said the title of Idorenyin Oruk Anam on him will continue to stimulate him to contribute significantly to the wellbeing of his constituents even as he pledged to remain the hope of the people.

He said his representation will continue to accord priority, respect and regards to the traditional institution in view of the pivotal role of royal fathers in maintenance of peace, unity and stability of communities.

The Initiator of the first ever Skills acquisition and empowerment programme for 5000 constituents said he will continue to carry traditional fathers along in his representation because of their contributions to the peace and harmony in the Federal constituency.

The Traditional Institution friendly Legislator prayed God to guide, protect and give Obong Ibanga wisdom and Understanding in piloting the affairs of the clan, adding that he will support the monarch to succeed in office.
